Retrofit Project Case Study

This project involves the conversion of overhead lines to underground cables in an older urban residential area. Issues Prior to Retrofit

The original overhead lines had poor insulation, making them prone to tripping and short circuits during thunderstorms, resulting in a high annual failure rate.

Overhead line branch connections were exposed, leading to oxidation and overheating over time, which posed safety hazards.

There were no segmentation or isolation nodes; a single-point fault caused power outages across the entire line section, resulting in a wide scope of service interruption.
